Indulge in the sweet, tangy goodness of Saskatoon Berry Pie, a delightful dessert bursting with fresh berries, a hint of lemon, and a buttery crust. Perfect for summer gatherings or cozy family dinners.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups Saskatoon berries
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 package pie crust
- 1 tablespoon butter
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2
In a mixing bowl, combine the Saskatoon berries, sugar, flour, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt. Toss gently to coat the berries evenly.
- 3
Line a 9-inch pie plate with one of the pie crusts. Pour the berry mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.
- 4
Dot the top of the filling with small pieces of butter.
- 5
Cover the filling with the second pie crust. Seal the edges and cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- 6
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- 7
Remove from oven and let cool for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the filling to set.
- 8
Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
