IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- oil for frying vegetable oil
- powdered sugar for dusting powdered sugar
Method
- 1
In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- 3
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 5
Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut out circles using a round cutter.
- 6
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the dough circles in batches until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes each.
- 7
Drain on paper towels and dust generously with powdered sugar while still warm.
- 8
Serve warm and enjoy your homemade Pączki!
