IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 tablespoons ghee or butter
Method
- 1
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and yogurt.
- 3
Mix the ingredients together until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- 4
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- 5
Once risen, punch the dough down and divide it into 4 equal balls. Roll each ball into an oval or teardrop shape about 1/4 inch thick.
- 6
Heat a skillet or tandoor over medium-high heat. Place the rolled naan onto the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until bubbles form.
- 7
Flip the naan and cook for another 1-2 minutes until it is golden brown. Brush with ghee or butter immediately after cooking.
- 8
Serve warm with your favorite curry or enjoy as is.
