Savor the taste of the sea with these succulent mussels steamed in white wine, garlic, and fresh parsley. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a special gathering, serve with crusty bread to soak up the flavorful broth.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg fresh mussels
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 200 ml white wine
  • 1 bunch fresh parsley
  • 1 lemon juice
  • to taste pinch salt and pepper

Method

  1. 1

Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.

  2. 2

Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  4. 4

Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer, allowing it to reduce slightly for about 2 minutes.

  5. 5

Add the cleaned mussels to the pot, cover, and cook for 5-7 minutes until the mussels open up.

  6. 6

Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper.

  7. 7

Serve the mussels in bowls with some of the broth and garnish with additional parsley if desired.
