Savor the rich flavors of Milanesa a Caballo, a delightful Argentine dish featuring breaded beef topped with a fried egg and zesty tomato sauce. Perfect for a hearty weeknight dinner or a festive gathering with friends.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 4 pieces beef (top round or flank steak)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 4 slices fried eggs
- to taste salt and pepper
- to taste oil
Method
- 1
Tenderize the beef slices using a meat mallet until they are about 1/4 inch thick.
- 2
Season both sides of the beef slices with salt and pepper.
- 3
Set up a breading station: place flour in one dish, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs in a third dish.
- 4
Dredge each beef slice in flour, dip in the beaten eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs.
- 5
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat and fry the breaded beef slices until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- 6
Once cooked, remove the beef from the skillet and let it drain on paper towels.
- 7
To serve, place each milanesa on a plate, top with a slice of fried egg, and spoon tomato sauce over it.
- 8
Serve immediately with a side of mashed potatoes or a fresh salad.
