Indulge in a hearty meat pie, where tender ground beef mingles with aromatic garlic and thyme, all enveloped in a flaky crust. It's the perfect centerpiece for a cozy weeknight dinner or a comforting weekend gathering.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup ice water
- 453.6 g ground beef
- 1 medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg Ingredient 10
Method
- 1
In a large bowl, combine the flour and cold butter. Use your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 2
Gradually add ice water, mixing until the dough comes together. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
In a skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
- 4
Add the ground beef, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Let the filling cool.
- 5
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface and cut into circles.
- 6
Place a spoonful of the meat filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold over and seal the edges using a fork.
- 7
Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the pies. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 8
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
