Indulge in the tropical delight of Mango Sticky Rice, a Thai classic that combines sweet, ripe mangoes with creamy coconut-infused glutinous rice. Perfect for a refreshing dessert on warm evenings or special occasions.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 cup glutinous rice
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 medium ripe mangoes
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Method
- 1
Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak it in water for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- 2
Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a bamboo or metal steamer for about 25-30 minutes until tender.
- 3
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over low to medium heat until the sugar dissolves, but do not let it boil.
- 4
Once the rice is done, mix about 3/4 of the coconut milk mixture into the steamed rice. Stir well to combine and let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- 5
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top with sliced mangoes, and drizzle with the remaining coconut milk mixture.
- 6
Garnish with sesame seeds if desired, and enjoy your Mango Sticky Rice warm or at room temperature.
