Savor the warmth of Indian cuisine with these fluffy, yogurt-infused kulchas, perfectly spiced with cumin and fresh cilantro. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering, they pair beautifully with your favorite curry.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 tbsp ghee or melted butter
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
- 1 cup water
Method
- 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- 2
Add yogurt and ghee to the flour mixture. Begin to knead, adding water gradually until a soft dough forms.
- 3
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 20-30 minutes.
- 4
After resting, divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
- 5
Roll each ball into a flat disc about 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle cumin seeds on top and gently press them into the dough.
- 6
Heat a tawa (griddle) or skillet over medium heat. Place the rolled kulcha on the hot surface and cook until bubbles form on the top.
- 7
Flip the kulcha and cook for another minute or until golden brown. Repeat with remaining dough.
- 8
Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with your favorite curry or chutney.
