Experience the heartwarming flavors of Czech cuisine with Houskové Knedlíky, soft potato dumplings enriched with fresh parsley and served with your favorite meats or gravies. Ideal for cozy family dinners or festive gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 500 g potato
  • 200 g white bread
  • 150 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 100 g sour cream
  • 50 g fresh parsley

Method

  1. 1

Peel and boil the potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and let them cool slightly.

  2. 2

Once the potatoes are cooled, mash them until smooth and let them cool completely.

  3. 3

In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, flour, beaten egg, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. 4

Gently fold in the bread cubes until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

  5. 5

Divide the dough into equal portions and shape them into cylindrical rolls about 5 cm thick.

  6. 6

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully place the knedlíky in the boiling water and cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until they float to the surface.

  7. 7

Remove the knedlíky from the water using a slotted spoon and let them drain on a cutting board.

  8. 8

Slice the knedlíky and serve them warm with sour cream and garnish with chopped parsley.
