Warm up with a hearty bowl of Gulaschsuppe, a traditional Hungarian goulash soup brimming with tender beef, vibrant vegetables, and aromatic spices. Ideal for cozy weeknight dinners or gatherings with friends.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef (chuck or shoulder), cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons sweet paprika
  • 1 liter beef broth
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste seasoning

Method

  1. 1

Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.

  2. 2

Add the beef cubes to the pot and brown on all sides.

  3. 3

Stir in the chopped onions and minced garlic, and sauté until the onions are translucent.

  4. 4

Mix in the sweet paprika and caraway seeds, cooking for another minute until fragrant.

  5. 5

Pour in the beef broth and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer, and cover the pot.

  6. 6

After 30 minutes, add the diced potatoes and carrots to the pot.

  7. 7

Continue to simmer for an additional 20-30 minutes, or until the meat and vegetables are tender.

  8. 8

Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving hot.
