Indulge in a rich and moist Guinness Cake, where the deep flavors of stout and cocoa harmonize beautifully. Perfect for a cozy gathering or a special dessert to impress your guests.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 cup Guinness stout
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1.5 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup cream cheese
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- 2
In a saucepan, combine the Guinness and butter over medium heat until melted. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- 3
In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and salt.
- 4
In another bowl, beat the eggs and sour cream together until smooth. Add the Guinness mixture and stir to combine.
- 5
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- 6
Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- 7
For the frosting, beat the cream cheese until smooth, then add in powdered sugar and milk until you reach your desired consistency.
- 8
Once the cake is completely cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting on top and serve.
