Savor the warm, flaky goodness of Gözleme, a traditional Turkish flatbread stuffed with vibrant spinach and creamy feta. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a delightful brunch with friends.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 200 grams spinach
  • 200 grams feta cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Method

    In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add water and mix until a soft dough forms.

    Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until it is smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.

    While the dough is resting, wash and chop the spinach. In a bowl, mix the chopped spinach with crumbled feta cheese and black pepper.

    Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. Roll each ball out into thin circles on a floured surface.

    Place a generous amount of the spinach and feta filling onto one half of each circle. Fold over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges to seal.

    Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook each gözleme for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.

    Remove from the skillet and allow to cool slightly before serving. Cut into wedges and enjoy warm.
