Indulge in these delightful Florentines, a classic Italian treat combining crunchy almonds, zesty candied orange peel, and rich dark chocolate. Perfect for festive gatherings or a sweet afternoon pick-me-up.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 200 g sliced almonds
- 100 g sugar
- 100 g glucose syrup
- 100 g dark chocolate
- 50 g butter
- 100 g candied orange peel
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- 2
In a pan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the sugar, glucose syrup, and salt, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
- 3
Once the mixture is smooth, remove it from the heat and stir in the sliced almonds, candied orange peel, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- 4
Drop spoonfuls of the almond mixture onto the prepared baking tray, spacing them apart to allow for spreading during baking.
- 5
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and let cool completely on a wire rack.
- 6
While the Florentines are cooling, melt the dark chocolate in a microwave or double boiler until smooth.
- 7
Dip the cooled Florentines in the melted chocolate or drizzle it on top as desired. Allow the chocolate to set before serving.
- 8
Enjoy your homemade Florentines with coffee or as a sweet treat anytime!
