Indulge in the rich, hearty flavors of Brazilian feijoada, a comforting stew of black beans, tender pork, and smoky sausage. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering with friends.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 300 grams black beans
- 200 grams pork shoulder
- 100 grams smoked sausage
- 100 grams chorizo
- 1 large onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- to taste salt
- to taste black pepper
Method
- 1
In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until they are translucent.
- 2
Add the pork shoulder chunks, smoked sausage, and chorizo to the pot. Cook until the meats are browned on all sides.
- 3
Stir in the soaked black beans and enough water to cover the mixture. Bring to a boil.
- 4
Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for about 2 to 2.5 hours, or until the beans and meats are tender. Stir occasionally and add more water if necessary.
- 5
Once cooked, season with salt and black pepper to taste. Let it simmer uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes to thicken the stew.
- 6
Serve hot with rice, orange slices, and chopped green onions on the side.
