IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cold butter
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion
- 1 large hard-boiled egg
- 1/4 cup black olives
Method
- 1
In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the cold butter and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- 2
Slowly add the ice-cold water to the mixture until a dough forms. Knead for a few minutes until smooth, then wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- 3
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped onion until translucent. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 4
Once the beef mixture is cooked, remove from heat and let it cool. Stir in the chopped hard-boiled egg and sliced olives.
- 5
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
- 6
Cut circles from the dough using a large glass or cutter. Place about a tablespoon of the filling on one half of each circle, fold over, and seal the edges with a fork.
- 7
Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- 8
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your empanadas warm!
