Indulge in this rich and creamy Caramel Slice, where buttery biscuits meet a luscious caramel filling topped with dark chocolate. Perfect for a sweet treat at gatherings or as a delightful dessert after dinner.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 cup plain biscuits
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup golden syrup
- 1 cup dark chocolate
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper.
- 2
In a bowl, combine the crushed biscuits and melted butter until well mixed.
- 3
Press the biscuit mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the base layer.
- 4
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, and golden syrup. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and starts to bubble. Allow it to cook for about 5 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- 5
Pour the caramel mixture over the biscuit base and smooth it out evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
- 6
While the caramel layer is baking, melt the dark chocolate with the vegetable oil in a microwave or in a double boiler until smooth.
- 7
Once the caramel layer has baked, remove it from the oven and pour the melted chocolate over the top. Spread it evenly.
- 8
Allow the slice to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before cutting into squares and serving.
