Indulge in Bacalhau com Natas, a creamy Portuguese classic that layers tender salted cod with golden potatoes, rich heavy cream, and aromatic garlic. Ideal for a cozy family dinner or a festive gathering.

Ingredients

  • 400 g salted cod (bacalhau)
  • 500 g potatoes
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • to taste black pepper
  • to taste nutmeg

Method

    Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

    In a pot, boil the soaked cod for about 15 minutes. Remove from heat, let cool, and then flake the cod into pieces, removing any bones.

    Add the flaked cod to the skillet and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Season with black pepper and nutmeg if desired.
