Indulge in a classic Australian Meat Pie, where savory ground beef mingles with aromatic garlic and onion, all encased in flaky puff pastry. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a casual gathering with friends.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 500 grams ground beef
- 1 medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup beef stock
- 2 sheets puff pastry
- 1 egg Ingredient 8
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- 2
In a large frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until soft.
- 3
Add the ground beef to the pan, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned.
- 4
Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and beef stock. Simmer for about 10 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 5
Roll out one sheet of puff pastry and line your pie dish with it, leaving some overhang. Fill with the beef mixture.
- 6
Cover the pie with the second sheet of puff pastry. Trim and seal the edges. Cut a small hole in the top to allow steam to escape.
- 7
Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden finish. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- 8
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your delicious meat pie!
