- 1 cup white rice
- 4 cups whole milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick cinnamon stick
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup raisins

Method

Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

In a large saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, whole milk, sugar, cinnamon stick, and salt.

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan. Let it simmer for about 20 minutes or until the rice is tender.

Add the vanilla extract and raisins, stirring well to combine. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly. The mixture will thicken as it cools.

Serve warm or chilled, garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.
