- 500 g potatoes
- 200 g cheese
- 1 cup cream
- 2 tbsp butter

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente.

In the last 10 minutes of cooking the macaroni, add the diced potatoes to the pot to cook until tender.

Drain the pasta and potatoes, then return them to the pot. Mix in the heavy cream, half of the grated cheese, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg if using.

Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
