Smažený Kapr is a beloved Czech dish featuring crispy, golden-brown carp fillets, perfectly seasoned and served with a zesty lemon. Ideal for festive occasions or a cozy family dinner, this dish brings warmth to your table.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg carp fillets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 500 ml vegetable oil
  • 1 lemon for serving

Method

    Rinse the carp fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

    Season the fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.

    Set up a dredging station: place flour in one plate, beaten eggs in another, and bread crumbs in a third.

    Coat each fillet first in flour, then dip in beaten eggs, and finally coat with bread crumbs.

    Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat until hot.

    Fry the coated fillets for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
