Indulge in the hearty delight of Scotch Eggs, where savory pork sausage envelops perfectly boiled eggs, all wrapped in a crispy breadcrumb coating. Ideal for a cozy brunch or a fun picnic treat!

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 300 g pork sausage meat
  • 75 g bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups vegetable oil

Method

  1. 1

Boil the eggs in water for about 6-7 minutes until soft-boiled. Remove them, cool under cold water, and carefully peel.

  2. 2

In a mixing bowl, combine the sausage meat, salt, pepper, and parsley. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

Divide the sausage mixture into four equal portions. Flatten each portion into a disk large enough to encase a boiled egg.

  4. 4

Wrap each egg with the sausage mixture, ensuring they are fully covered, and form them into smooth balls.

  5. 5

Coat each Scotch egg in breadcrumbs by rolling them in the crumbs until fully covered.

  6. 6

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully fry the Scotch eggs until golden brown, about 5-6 minutes.

  7. 7

Remove the Scotch eggs from the oil and drain on paper towels. Let cool slightly before serving.

  8. 8

Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally with mustard or your favorite dipping sauce.

The crispy, golden crust of the Scotch egg was a delightful contrast to the perfectly runny yolk inside. Each bite was a savory explosion, making it a must-try for any snack lover.
