Savor the sweet delight of Onde-Onde, a traditional Indonesian treat filled with luscious palm sugar and coated in grated coconut. Perfect for festive gatherings or as a delightful afternoon snack with tea.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 200 g glutinous rice flour
- 150 ml water
- 1 tbsp pandan juice
- 100 g palm sugar
- 100 g grated coconut
- 1 pinch salt
Method
- 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, salt, and pandan juice.
- 2
Gradually add water and knead until a smooth dough forms. The dough should be pliable but not sticky.
- 3
Take a small portion of the dough, flatten it in your palm, and place a cube of palm sugar in the center. Carefully wrap the dough around the sugar and roll it into a ball.
- 4
Repeat the process until all dough and palm sugar cubes are used.
- 5
Bring a pot of water to a boil, then gently drop the balls into the water. Cook until they float to the surface, indicating they are done.
- 6
Remove the cooked balls and roll them in grated coconut to coat evenly.
- 7
Let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your Onde-Onde!
