Savor the hearty flavors of Leberkäse, a traditional German meatloaf made with a blend of pork and beef, seasoned to perfection. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering, serve it warm with mustard and crusty bread.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 g ground pork
- 300 g ground beef
- 200 g pork belly
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground white pepper
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup iced water
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, ground beef, pork belly, salt, white pepper, onion powder, and cornstarch.
- 3
Slowly add the iced water to the meat mixture, mixing thoroughly until well combined and slightly sticky.
- 4
Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan, pressing it down firmly to avoid air pockets.
- 5
Bake in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 70°C (160°F).
- 6
Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes in the pan before slicing.
- 7
Serve warm with mustard and pretzels or bread.
