Indulge in the sweet embrace of Gulab Jamun, a beloved Indian dessert made from milk powder and fragrant rose water, perfect for celebrations or a cozy evening treat with family and friends.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 cup Milk powder
- 1/4 cup All-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup Ghee or unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1/4 cup Milk
- 2 cups Sugar
- 1 cup Water
- 1/2 teaspoon Rose water
- Oil or Ghee For deep frying
Method
- 1
In a bowl, mix together milk powder, all-purpose flour, and baking soda until well combined.
- 2
Melt the ghee or butter and add it to the dry mixture. Mix until crumbly.
- 3
Gradually add milk to the mixture and knead gently until a soft dough forms. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
- 4
In a pan, combine sugar and water. Heat until sugar dissolves and then add rose water. Remove from heat and set aside.
- 5
Heat oil or ghee in a deep pan over medium heat. Form small balls from the dough, ensuring they are smooth without cracks.
- 6
Deep fry the balls in batches until they turn golden brown. Keep the heat low to ensure they cook through.
- 7
Once fried, immediately immerse the hot gulab jamuns in the warm sugar syrup. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- 8
Serve warm or at room temperature garnished with chopped nuts if desired.
