Warm up with a comforting bowl of Drůbeží Polévka, a traditional Czech chicken soup brimming with tender chicken, vibrant carrots, and aromatic herbs. Ideal for cozy weeknight dinners or when you're feeling under the weather.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg whole chicken
  • 2 liters water
  • 2 medium carrots
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 stalk celery
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley

Method

    In a large pot, place the cut chicken pieces and cover with 2 liters of water.

    Bring the water to a boil over medium heat, skimming off any foam that rises to the surface.

    Add the quartered onion, sliced carrots, chopped celery, crushed garlic, salt, and black pepper to the pot.

    Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 1.5 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.

    Once cooked, remove the chicken from the pot and allow it to cool slightly. Shred the meat and discard the skin and bones.

    Return the shredded chicken to the pot, stirring to combine all the ingredients.
