Indulge in a warm, comforting date pudding that marries the rich sweetness of pitted dates with a hint of cinnamon. This delightful dessert is perfect for cozy weeknight dinners or special occasions with loved ones.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Method

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

In a bowl, soak the chopped dates in boiling water for about 5 minutes to soften them.

  3. 3

In another mixing bowl, combine the sifted flour, baking soda, and ground cinnamon (if using). Mix well.

  4. 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and milk until smooth.

  5. 5

Add the softened dates (with water) to the butter mixture and stir to combine.

  6. 6

Gradually fold the flour mixture into the date mixture until just combined.

  7. 7

Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and bake for about 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  8. 8

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
