Indulge in a warm, comforting bread and butter pudding, where buttery bread meets creamy custard, studded with sweet raisins and a hint of cinnamon. Ideal for a cozy dessert on a chilly evening or a delightful weekend treat.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 6 slices white bread
- 100 g unsalted butter
- 4 large eggs
- 600 ml whole milk
- 100 g caster sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 100 g raisins
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Method
- 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- 2
Spread the softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- 3
Cut the bread into triangles and layer them in the baking dish, buttered side up. Sprinkle the raisins and a bit of cinnamon between the layers.
- 4
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and remaining cinnamon until well combined.
- 5
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered bread. Allow it to soak for about 15 minutes.
- 6
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the pudding is set and golden brown on top.
- 7
Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
