- 1 large onion
- 1 carrot carrot
- 1 liter vegetable broth
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- -17 °C bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Rinse the soaked yellow split peas under cold water and set aside.

In a large pot, sauté the chopped onion and diced carrot in a little oil over medium heat until softened.

Add the rinsed split peas, vegetable broth, dried thyme, and bay leaf to the pot.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 60-90 minutes, or until the peas are tender.

Stir occasionally and add more broth or water if needed to maintain the desired consistency.

Once cooked, season with salt and black pepper to taste, and remove the bay leaf.
