Experience the hearty flavors of Eastern European cuisine with Tlačenka, a savory pork hock dish infused with spices and vinegar. Perfect for a cozy family dinner or a unique addition to your next gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg pork hocks
  • 500 ml water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 cup vegetables (optional)

Method

  1. 1

Rinse the pork hocks under cold water and place them in a large pot.

  2. 2

Add 500 ml of water, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Bring to a boil.

  3. 3

Reduce the heat to low and let simmer for about 2-3 hours until the meat is tender and falling off the bone.

  4. 4

Once cooked, remove the pork hocks and let them cool slightly. Strain the broth into a bowl.

  5. 5

Shred the meat from the bones and combine it with any optional vegetables and vinegar in a mixing bowl.

  6. 6

Pour the strained broth over the meat mixture and stir well. Pour into a mold or dish.

  7. 7

Refrigerate for several hours or overnight until set.

  8. 8

Slice and serve chilled, optionally with mustard or bread.
