Indulge in the rich, velvety sweetness of homemade Port Wine, infused with warm spices like cinnamon and cloves. Perfect for cozy gatherings or as a luxurious after-dinner treat, this delightful beverage will elevate any occasion.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 liters grape must
- 750 milliliters grape spirits (aguardente)
- 500 grams sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon stick
- 1 tablespoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Method
- 1
In a large pot, combine the grape must and sugar. Stir well until the sugar is fully dissolved.
- 2
Heat the mixture over medium heat until it reaches a gentle simmer.
- 3
Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, and nutmeg to the pot. Continue to simmer for about 15 minutes to allow the spices to infuse.
- 4
After 15 minutes, remove the pot from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
- 5
Once cooled, stir in the grape spirits (aguardente) and add vanilla extract if desired.
- 6
Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove the spices and any solids.
- 7
Bottle the Port Wine in clean, sterilized bottles and seal tightly. Let it age for at least a few months for optimal flavor.
