- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 250 g unsalted butter
- 200 g sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 3 medium apples
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 egg egg

In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar (100g), salt, and baking powder together until well combined.

Add the softened butter to the dry ingredients and mix until crumbly.

Gradually add water as needed to form a soft dough. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

While the dough is chilling, prepare the filling by mixing the grated apples with the remaining sugar (100g) and cinnamon in a bowl.

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll out the dough on a floured surface to fit your baking dish.

Place half of the dough in the bottom of the baking dish, add the apple mixture, and cover with the remaining dough. Seal the edges.

Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the pie for a golden finish.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool before serving.
