Indulge in the sweet, caramelized goodness of Liège Waffles, a Belgian treat that combines rich butter, pearl sugar, and a hint of vanilla. Perfect for a cozy brunch or a delightful dessert!
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 grams all-purpose flour
- 250 ml whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- 75 grams granulated sugar
- 10 grams active dry yeast
- 200 grams unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 200 grams pearl sugar
Method
- 1
In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Allow to sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and sugar.
- 3
Add the frothy yeast mixture, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the flour mixture. Mix until fully combined.
- 4
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 5
After the dough has risen, gently fold in the pearl sugar.
- 6
Preheat a waffle iron and grease it lightly. Scoop about 1/2 cup of dough into the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions until golden brown.
- 7
Repeat with remaining dough, serving waffles warm with toppings of your choice.
