Indulge in the hearty flavors of Leberkäse, a traditional German meatloaf made with a savory blend of beef, pork, and bacon. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering, this dish is sure to warm your heart.

Ingredients

  • 500 g beef
  • 500 g pork
  • 200 g bacon
  • 200 ml beef broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp nutmeg

Method

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, and chopped bacon.

  3. 3

Add beef broth, salt, pepper, onion powder, and nutmeg to the meat mixture. Mix thoroughly using your hands or a spoon until well combined.

  4. 4

Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan, pressing it down firmly to remove any air pockets.

  5. 5

Bake in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 70°C (160°F).

  6. 6

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.

  7. 7

Serve warm or at room temperature, traditionally enjoyed with mustard and fresh bread.
