Savor the vibrant flavors of Kota, a South African street food delight featuring soft bunny bread layered with savory polony, fresh tomatoes, and tangy pickles. Ideal for a quick weeknight meal or a casual gathering with friends.

Ingredients

  • 2 loaves bunny bread
  • 200 grams polony
  • 1 cup sliced tomatoes
  • 1 cup sliced pickles
  • 1 cup sauce (chutney or mayonnaise)

Method

  1. 1

Cut the bunny bread loaves in half horizontally to create a top and bottom bun.

  2. 2

Layer the bottom half of each bun with slices of polony, covering it evenly.

  3. 3

Add a generous layer of sliced tomatoes on top of the polony.

  4. 4

If using, place sliced pickles over the tomatoes for added crunch and flavor.

  5. 5

Drizzle your choice of sauce generously over the top of the filling.

  6. 6

Place the top half of the bun back on and press down gently.

  7. 7

Cut the Kota in half for easier handling and serve immediately.
