Savor the earthy goodness of green grams, delicately spiced with cumin and finished with a touch of oil. This wholesome dish is perfect for a nourishing weeknight dinner or as a vibrant side at your next gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup green grams (mung beans)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

Method

  1. 1

Rinse the soaked green grams under cold water and drain well.

  2. 2

In a pot, boil 2 cups of water. Once boiling, add the rinsed green grams.

  3. 3

Cook the green grams for about 20-25 minutes or until tender. Add salt in the last 5 minutes of cooking.

  4. 4

In a separate pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and sauté until they start to pop.

  5. 5

Once the green grams are cooked and tender, drain any excess water and add them to the pan with sautéed cumin seeds.

  6. 6

Stir well to combine the green grams with the oil and spices. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  7. 7

Serve hot as a side dish or enjoy on its own.
