Savor the rich, gamey flavor of elk burgers, seasoned to perfection with garlic and onion, topped with melted cheddar and fresh veggies. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a weekend barbecue with friends.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 453.6 g ground elk meat
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 buns burger buns
- 1 cup lettuce
- 1 medium tomato
- 1 medium onion
Method
- 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground elk meat, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined.
- 2
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty, pressing slightly in the center to prevent puffing during cooking.
- 3
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
- 4
Grill the elk patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C). If using cheese, place it on top of the patties during the last minute of grilling to melt.
- 5
Toast the burger buns on the grill for about 1 minute or until lightly golden.
- 6
Assemble the burgers by placing each elk patty on a bun. Top with lettuce, tomato, and onion slices.
- 7
Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious elk burgers!
