Indulge in the warm, crispy delight of homemade churros, perfectly dusted with cinnamon sugar. These Spanish treats are ideal for a cozy dessert or festive gatherings, bringing joy to any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Method

  1. 1

In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

Remove from heat and stir in the flour and vegetable oil until the dough forms.

  3. 3

Let the dough cool slightly, then transfer it to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle.

  4. 4

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  5. 5

Pipe long strips of dough into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes.

  6. 6

Remove the churros and drain on paper towels. In a bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon, and coat the churros.

  7. 7

Serve warm with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping.
