Ingredients

  • 2 kg live crabs
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp ginger
  • 2 tbsp chili paste
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 stalks coriander

Method

  1. 1

Clean and prepare the crabs, breaking them into pieces if desired.

  2. 2

Heat the vegetable oil in a large wok or pot over medium heat.

  3. 3

Add minced garlic and ginger, sauté until fragrant.

  4. 4

Stir in the chili paste, tomato puree, soy sauce, sugar, and water. Bring to a simmer.

  6. 6

  7. 7

Garnish with fresh coriander before serving.

  8. 8

Serve hot with steamed buns or rice for a complete meal.
