Indulge in the sweet and savory delight of Char Siu Bao, fluffy steamed buns filled with tender char siu pork, hoisin, and soy sauce. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering with friends.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 250 ml water
- 10 g instant yeast
- 30 g sugar
- 2 tbsp oil
- 300 g char siu pork
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
Method
- 1
In a large bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
In another bowl, combine the flour and oil. Gradually add the yeast mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms.
- 3
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 4
Prepare the filling by mixing the finely chopped char siu pork, hoisin sauce, and soy sauce in a bowl.
- 5
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle about 10 cm in diameter.
- 6
Place a spoonful of the char siu filling in the center of each dough circle. Gather the edges and pinch to seal the bun.
- 7
Place the buns on parchment paper and steam them in a steamer for about 15-20 minutes until fluffy.
- 8
Serve the steamed buns warm and enjoy the delicious filling.
