Savor the hearty flavors of homemade bratwurst, crafted from a blend of succulent pork and beef, seasoned with aromatic spices. Perfect for grilling on a summer evening or serving at a cozy family gathering.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 grams pork shoulder
- 200 grams beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 clove garlic
- 3 meters natural hog casings
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley
Method
- 1
In a large bowl, combine the finely ground pork and beef.
- 2
Add salt, black pepper, nutmeg, and minced garlic to the meat mixture. Mix well until fully incorporated.
- 3
Rinse the hog casings under cold water and then soak them in water for at least 30 minutes.
- 4
Stuff the casings with the meat mixture using a sausage stuffer, being careful not to overfill.
- 5
Twist the sausages into 6-inch links and tie the ends securely with kitchen twine.
- 6
Preheat your grill over medium heat. Grill the bratwursts for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally until cooked through.
- 7
Remove from the grill and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- 8
Garnish with fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy your homemade Swiss bratwurst!
