Savor the comforting flavors of South Africa with this traditional bobotie, a spiced ground beef dish topped with a creamy egg custard. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering with friends and family.

- 500 grams ground beef
- 1 medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons curry powder
- 1 cup milk
- 2 slices bread
- 2 tablespoons apricot jam
- 2 eggs large
- 1 teaspoon salt
Method

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

In a large pan, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until soft.

Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in the curry powder, salt, and apricot jam.

Soak the bread in half of the milk, then squeeze out excess liquid and crumble into the meat mixture.

In a separate bowl, mix the beaten eggs with the remaining milk and stir into the meat mixture thoroughly.

Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish and smooth out the top.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-60 minutes or until set and golden on top.
